Vermont is well known for its beautiful natural landscape, and when it comes to winter sports, ski areas are abundant for skiers and riders of all skill levels! Whether you enjoy backcountry glades or carving down wide-open trails, you can find everything you’re looking for in the Green Mountain State. Below are a few of our top picks for ski areas in Northern Vermont!
Smugglers Notch Resort
Located in the town of Cambridge, Vermont, Smugglers Notch Resort is an awesome easy-to-access mountain for the whole family. Just a quick drive off the highway, and you will find yourself immersed in the slopes in no time! Consisting of three peaks, Smugglers Notch aka, Smuggs is one of the top 3 largest mountains in the state! With trails ranging from Beginner to Triple Black Diamond (the only in the state), there is a trail to keep you entertained at any skill level!

Jay Peak Resort
As the northernmost ski area in Vermont, sitting just south of the border Jay Peak Resort is a fan-favorite amongst locals and skiers from Canada! While Jay Peak is one of the smaller resorts in the state, its high annual snowfall (Averaging #1 of all Northeast US ski areas) and remarkable glades make it a go-to mountain. If you are a fan of epic powder runs similar to resorts our west, Jay Peak is a Vermont mountain you must visit.

Bolton Valley Ski Resort
Last but not least, on our list of Northern Vermont ski areas is Bolton Valley Resort. Only a short 30-minute drive from Burlington, this small ski area has plenty to boast! As one of the only ski areas to offer night skiing, this resort attracts a lot of locals who can’t find the time to hit the slopes during the day! With trails ranging from nordic skiing to downhill and backcountry runs, Bolton Valley is a go-to spot to take the family or go for some solo runs.
